چکیده

This paper investigates the effect of the solids-to-liquids (S/L) and Na2SiO3/NaOH ratios on the production of palm oil boiler ash (POBA) based geopolymer. Sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution were used as alkaline activator with a NaOH concentration of 14 M. The geopolymer samples were prepared with different S/L ratios (0.5, 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, and 1.75) and Na2SiO3/NaOH ratios (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, and 3.0). The main evaluation techniques in this study were compressive strength, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The results showed that the maximum compressive strength (11.9 MPa) was obtained at a S/L ratio and Na2SiO3/NaOH ratio of 1.5 and 2.5 at seven days of testing. OPEN ACCESS Materials 2015, 8 2228

Effect of Lime Stone Dust on Geopolymerisation and Geopolymeric Structure

In this paper, synthesis of geopolymer from fly ash with sodium hydroxide as activator was studied. Fly ash was replaced by Lime stone dust in various proportions (10% and 15%) where Fly ash was used as source material for synthesis of geopolymer. Sodium silicate (Na2SiO3) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solutions were mixed maintaining a silicate modulus (Na2O / SiO2) at 1. Scanning electron micro...

The Effect of Different Parameters on the Development of Compressive Strength of Oil Palm Shell Geopolymer Concrete

This paper presents the experimental results of an on-going research project on geopolymer lightweight concrete using two locally available waste materials--low calcium fly ash (FA) and oil palm shell (OPS)--as the binder and lightweight coarse aggregate, respectively. OPS was pretreated with three different alkaline solutions of sodium hydroxide (NaOH), potassium hydroxide, and sodium silicate...

Taftan Pozzolan-Based Geopolymer Cement

Abstract: In recent years, many research works have been done to investigate the possibility of utilizing a broad range of materials as raw materials in the production of geopolymer cements. The use of artificial pozzolans or aluminosilicate-type industrial waste materials such as granulated blast-furnace slag and fly ash has been reported in many research works. Natural pozzolans are also al...

Acid Hydrolysis of Pretreated Palm Oil Lignocellulosic Wastes

Palm oil solid wastes consist of cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin. In this study, a single stage of acid hydrolysis process of palm oil empty fruit bunch (EFB) for production of fermentable sugar was carried out under moderate temperature (45°C) and ambient pressure. The effect of four different process variables such as solid size, HCl concentration, solid percentage and temperature were in...
